Acupuncture for Weight Loss

The perfect weight loss program is effective in decreasing the levels of food consumed while increasing the levels of energy expended. Acupuncture has made this possible by accommodating both the psychological and physiological aspects advanced for weight loss. It is an effective treatment that can be used on its own or as a treatment offered in conjunction with other weight loss management programs.
Acupuncture is a comprehensive therapy administered for weight related issues with its roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The program promotes better digestion, reduces appetite, smooths emotions, eliminates food cravings and improves metabolism. Acupuncture treatment recommends special foods and herbs that influence the performance of the liver and spleen system, effective in weight loss. The treatment is advanced in the western society to influence the endocrine system, nervous system, metabolism, digestive system and food cravings. All these activities have been observed to help energize the body, control overeating, maximize degree of absorbing nutrients, control overeating, reduce anxiety and suppress the appetite.
A tailor made program
Acupuncture treatment is tailor made to cater for the specific needs of individuals. Furthermore, the program focuses on the root problem by identifying the section of the body that needs to be targeted in order to achieve the perfect results. The goal of the treatment is to increase the circulation of blood, stimulate metabolism and calm the nervous system. In addition, different acupuncture points are selected in order to treat the different symptoms that may arise.
Treatment is often administered once or twice every week, for a period of 8-12 weeks. In several occasions, the treatment is facilitated until the goal has been achieved. The treatment entails a combination ear & body acupuncture, ear pellets, abdominal massage, herbs and supplements, food & lifestyle changes and breathing exercises.
Ear (auricular) acupuncture
Ear acupuncture is progressed to very effective for weight loss. The human ear is described as containing notable points that relate to major body parts and organs. The auricular points responsible for weight loss can be stimulated using small tacks. Seed-sized magnets/beads are then taped on the points in order to improve the function of these points. The magnets/beads will remain taped for 3 to 7 days. Meanwhile, they can be massaged gently for 10-second intervals, when cravings occur. The most popular auricular points often employed in the treatment include the small intestines, shenmen, endocrine point, and mouth and hunger point.

The majority of persons report a remarkable decline in cravings and appetite with acupuncture. Nevertheless, the inclusion of healing foods, herbs and abdominal exercises can help improve the treatment.
Healing foods & herbs: The foods and herbs are selected during the treatment in order to promote the digestion process, augment Qi, and energize the body and elimination of waste & toxins. Foods that are particularly bitter, acrid and bitter to taste are often recommended for weight loss, while greasy, salty and sweet foods are reduced.

Abdominal exercise/massage: Acupuncture points administered on the abdomen help in improving the digestion, peristalsis the intestines and absorbing food. An effective belly breathing or message can stimulate the points. Deep breathing can also help strengthen the system and aid in curbing cravings and hunger.
